I am often asked for help or advice for different aspects of finding one's ancestors and am unable to come up with any definitive answers. As there may be someone out there who has just the answer I will post his or her requests on this page with their permission. If you have any knowledge of any of the following requests please contact me at <hbmoody@bellsouth> and I will pass it on to the requester.
1. I have a request from a friend who wants to know if anyone is researching the line of William Hamilton (Abt 1770 - About 1850)
2. I have a specific question regarding the reconstruction period. My great grandmother, Elizabeth Ford, was in the home of Wm E. Miller a Trial Justice as recorded in the 1870 Census. Two of her brother's were also in this home. Their father, Thomas P. Ford, had died at the end of the Civil War 1865. By 1870 their mother, Sarah Bullock Ford, had remarried to a Grimsley and was living in Marion County also. Later, 1880 census, they were reunited and were living at their Mississippi Farm. Any knowledge of the period would help. Their grandparents were Jesse and Mary Watson Ford who were in the 1860 census for the county but both had died before 1870. Jesse' father was Preserved 'Zary' FORD.
My question: Why were they not living with their mother in 1870? Would there be court records that cover that period? Are there Miller researchers that might know of his work during that period?
